(MIMICO, ON) June 28, 2025 — The Toronto Beaches kept their strong run of form going, beating the Mimico Mountaineers 10-4 Saturday night at Mimico Arena.
The Beaches got strong outings offensively across the board, with Willem Firth (3G, 2A) having five points while Josh Mills (1G, 3A) and Liam Aston (1G, 3A) had four-point outings.
Hunter Lubinecki and Cal Brennan also had two goals and three points apiece in the win.
Thomas Kiazyk got his eighth victory of the season, making 35 saves in the process.
Toronto got the scoring started, with Kaleb Tatarek scoring on an outside shot on the power play at the 16:58 mark of the first. Christian MacKinnon got that goal back for Mimico just over a minute later, but Cal Brennan scored on a bouncer far side to get the Beaches back into the lead. Liam Aston added another power-play marker, hammering home an outside look to make it a two-goal advantage.
Jacob Keller got Mimico’s second goal of the period, cutting into the lead, but Lubinecki added on, scoring on another outside look to send the Beaches into the locker room up 4-2.
It was the hosts getting on the board first to open the second stanza, with Colin Burns making good on a power-play opportunity at the 8:48 mark. But it was Firth getting behind the Mountaineers’ defence for his first on a breakaway. Lubinecki got another, scoring in tight to the crease to make it a four-goal lead for the Beaches. Justin Tavares scored on an outside look, making it 6-4 for Toronto through two periods.
In the final 20 minutes, Kiazyk and the Beaches’ defence locked things down, pitching a spotless third. That helped the offence pull away. Back-to-back goals from Firth made it 8-4, and Brennan’s second came off a jumping quick-stick connection with McPherson on the back post. Mills put a stamp on the game, dropping a twister on the man advantage with seven minutes left in regulation. That was the difference, as Toronto held on to secure the 10-4 win.
Now sitting at 11-5 for the season, Toronto heads into the final stretch of the regular season. They’ll be in action next on Wednesday night when they head on the road to finish their season series with Burlington. Face-off is set for 8:00 pm ET.
