Reilly O’Connor

Head Coach

Reilly returns to the Beaches bench for his Fourth season as Head Coach.

A seven-year National Lacrosse League veteran, Reilly was selected by the Calgary Roughnecks with the seventh overall pick in the 2015 NLL Draft. He is now a member of the Ottawa Black Bears.

A Georgetown alumnus, Reilly was named the new Head Coach of the Toronto Beaches in 2021 and led the Beaches Jr. A and Futures teams in the condensed OJLL season. He was also at the helm during the team’s record-breaking 2022 season in which the Beaches set a new franchise record in wins (15) while making their first-ever Minto Cup appearance

Reilly also helps to develop the next wave of lacrosse stars with Beast Athletics alongside Beaches General Manager Reid Acton.

 

 

Damon Edwards

Defensive Coach

Edwards returns for his sixth season on the Beaches’ Coaching Staff.

Edwards is a 12-year National Lacrosse League Veteran who has spent time with the Boston Blazers, Toronto Rock, and New York Riptide. He’ll make his way to the Nation’s capital as the captain of the Ottawa Black Bears, as Edwards was given the “C” ahead of the 2023-24 NLL season.

He was selected by the Rock with the 31st overall pick in the 2009 NLL Draft.

Damon is a Beaches Alumni who was raised in the city, and he gives back to the community by coaching the next generation, both with the Beaches and Beast Athletics. Edwards also started up his Damon45 program, which focuses on teaching youth about diversity, inclusion, and racial injustices through the lens of lacrosse. 

 

 

Luc Magnan

Defensive Coach

This will be Magnan’s fourth summer behind the bench for the Beaches.

Magnan joined the Beaches staff in 2021, assuming a role as a defensive coach alongside Damon Edwards. Magnan also coached the Beaches’ futures team in his first summer with the organization.

Magnan has spent seven seasons in the National Lacrosse League, playing with the Toronto Rock and Halifax Thunderbirds over that span. He was selected 17th overall by Toronto in the 2015 NLL Draft.  

In addition to his time spent with the Beaches organization, Luc also coaches and teaches at The Hill Academy. 

 

Mike McKay

Offensive Coach

McKay returns to the Beaches for his seventh season with the organization.

McKay serves as an offensive assistant, goalie coach, and video coordinator for the team. He had previously served as an assistant coach alongside Edwards under head coach Glenn Clark.

In addition to spending time in the National Lacrosse League with the Anaheim Storm during his playing career, McKay is also a part of the coaching staff for the Albany FireWolves, where he serves as the team’s goalie coach and video coordinator, where he has helped the organization make its first NLL Cup Final in 2024.
