Beaches second-year forward Willem Firth set a number of statistical milestones during the 2022 campaign. The 2021 third overall OJLL draft selection became the fourth player in Beaches history to record 100 points and just the second to score 50 goals in a single season. Firth is the first player to accomplish both 50 goals and 100 points in the same season in franchise history.
The Beaches set another milestone after finishing the season with five consecutive victories. With 15 wins for the year, the Beaches surpassed the previous season-high of 14 set by the 2002 and 2004 squads, respectively.
The Beaches made more history in the 2022 playoffs after securing the second seed in the league. With series victories over the Peterborough Lakers and Burlington Chiefs, the Beaches secured an automatic bid to the 2022 Minto Cup in Brampton, Ontario.
The Beaches’ record-setting year continued into the annual National Lacrosse League draft. In the 2022 Draft, seven Beaches players and alumni were taken — A franchise record. Owen Grant was selected third overall by the Vancouver Warriors, while Cam Wyers (13th Overall), Dylan Robinson (14th Overall), Owen Down (15th Overall), Brady Kearnan (20th Overall), and Taggart Clark (23rd Overall) were also selected in the first round. Former Beaches captain Matt Duncan was also selected by the Albany FireWolves in the fourth round (67th Overall).
