TORONTO, ON (May 3, 2024) — The Toronto Beaches today announced that the team has acquired defender Matt Firth from the RMLL’s Okotoks Raiders.
“Matt comes to us from a winning organization and has great experience under his belt,” said Beaches Head Coach Reilly O’Connor. “We can’t wait to add his size and presence to our back end and the type of teammate he is to our locker room.”
Firth, a Calgary, AB native, has spent the previous two seasons with the Raiders, playing in 35 regular-season contests across that span.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder also attends Davenport University, where he has just finished his sophomore season. In two years with the Panthers, Firth has posted a goal, 20 loose balls, and 11 caused turnovers in 25 games.
“I’m super excited to be a part of such a top-notch, phenomenal organization this summer,” Firth said of the move. “Between the outstanding coaching and calibre of players here, I believe this is a group that can do some special things this summer. I’m super excited for what the season holds.”
We are extremely excited to welcome Matt to the Beaches family, as we prepare for the start of the 2024 season.
On May 13, the team will return to the floor for a preseason contest at Iroquois Park against the Whitby Warriors. Fans can come to the game and enter with a voluntary donation. Proceeds will go to Toronto Sick Kids Hospital in memory of Tucker Williams. Opening face-off is slated for 7:00 pm ET.
