TORONTO, ON (May 3, 2023) — The Toronto Beaches today are extremely excited to announce the addition of transition player Leo Hoffman ahead of the 2023 OJLL season.
“Leo is a special talent and an incredible athlete. He has a relentless motor and is built to succeed the way the indoor game is going,” Beaches Head Coach Reilly O’Connor said. “He is a huge addition to our team and we are excited to have him in the beach this coming summer.”
Hoffman is one of the top NCAA prospects hailing from the United States. The Scarsdale, NY native is in the midst of his senior year at Brunswick, where he is ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the class of 2023 as well as the top-ranked midfielder.
A midfielder, Hoffman has committed to playing his collegiate lacrosse at the University of Pennsylvania.
“Lacrosse has been in my life for such a long time, and I’ve played the American style of game for so long. But going into college, I wanted to get some new experience with the game and styles,” Hoffman said on his decision to come North this summer. “There are so many reasons why I think box is awesome. It helps your hands, it helps your movement off-ball, and there are just different levels of physicality.
“I”m excited for the relationships I’ll be able to build throughout this summer. I know of a couple of guys on the team and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone. But also just the experience with Coach O’Connor. I’ve gotten to know him for a couple of years now but just building that relationship further is something I’m looking forward to doing.”
Following a record-breaking season in 2022, including the organization’s first Minto Cup appearance, we are looking forward to our return to the floor. The Beaches will open their season on May 16, when they go head-to-head with the Whitby Warriors at Iroquois Park.
