TORONTO, ON (October 16, 2025) — The Toronto Beaches today announced that the team has agreed to a trade with the Kitchener-Waterloo Lacrosse Club.
The Beaches have acquired five first-round picks (2026, 2027, 2028, 2030, 2031), four second-round picks (2026, 2027, 2028, 2030), forward Brendan Marino, and defender Joe Columbus and Brayden Mitchell.
In exchange, the Beaches have sent forwards Hamish McPherson and Hunter Lubiniecki, along with defenders Aaron Eberhard and Liam Bucknell, to K-W.
Marino, a 2005-born lefty forward, has played in the OJLL over the previous two summers, posting 14 career goals and 43 points across 23 contests.
Collegiately, Marino attends Stony Brook University, where he is a sophomore. In his first year with the Seawolves, he posted 20 goals and four assists in 11 games, earning CAA All-Rookie Selection. He also helped Canada capture the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 championship alongside recent Beaches graduate David Peterkin.
Columbus was originally selected ninth overall by Kitchener-Waterloo in the 2023 OJLL Draft. In 54 career games in the OJLL, he has posted a goal and 12 points while also taking face-offs while playing regular shifts on the back end for K-W.
The Fergus, Ontario native attends the University of Guelph, where he plays as a face-off specialist. He is the younger brother of Bo Columbus, who was just selected 15th overall by the Philadelphia Wings in the 2025 NLL Draft.
Mitchell spent this past summer playing in the OJBLL with the Wallaceburg Red Devils, leading the team in scoring with 34 goals and 73 points in 20 appearances. He appeared in 30 total games over the previous two summers in Junior A, where he had a goal and eight points while playing out the back gate.
The Beaches organization would like to extend our utmost gratitude to Hamish, Hunter, Aaron, and Liam for their efforts on the team over the last few years, and we wish them all the best of luck in the future.
